In order to help your Goldendoodle puppy develop into a strong and healthy dog, you need to buy them a good food brand and know exactly how much they should be eating per meal. While many dog owners simply give their puppy food when they look hungry, this can result in them gaining too much weight or not eating enough.

If you have just adopted a new Goldendoodle puppy and want to know how much you should be feeding them, you have come to the right place. In this article, we will be discussing everything that you need to know about your new furry companion and their eating routine, and will answer the questions of how much to feed a Goldendoodle puppy? So let’s get right to it.

Choosing A Puppy Food Brand

In general, the more expensive a puppy food brand, the more nutritious and beneficial it will be to your dog. However, this does not mean that you have to go out and buy a bag of dog food that costs hundreds of dollars.

Most puppies are not too picky when it comes to the food that they eat. With that being said, it is not recommended that you feed your young Goldendoodle anything that is too rich as this can cause stomach issues. Many vets suggest mixing some decent kibble with cooked meat or vegetables – this will provide your puppy with plenty of nutrients and vitamins.

The First Year Feeding Plan

6 to 12 Weeks

When your Goldendoodle puppy is between the ages of 6 and 12 weeks, they should be eating a few small meals every day. To be more specific, there should be 4 separate feeding times.

Each small meal should consist of about ¼ cup of food. However, if your puppy still looks starving after they have eaten, you can give them a little more (but not too much).

3 to 6 Months

Once your puppy reaches 3 months, you can start with fewer meals and more food. Begin feeding them three times a day, but increase the meal size to ½ a cup of food. You can continue with these portion sizes until your Goldendoodle puppy reaches the age of 6 months.

6 to 12 Months

After the age of 6 months, you can start feeding your Goldendoodle puppy twice per day. You can also increase the portion size from ½ a cup to ¾ cup or even a full cup. Stay on this diet routine until your puppy reaches the age of one.
